Microsoft is at the forefront of developing innovative gaming tech, and their one-of-a-kind flight simulator is no exception.

Microsoft’s flight simulator was available on P.C., but the Microsoft Flight Simulator (MSFS) Team has announced that their product is making its way to the Xbox Series X|S.

Gamers and the flight simulator community can look forward to experiencing the skies on Xbox consoles on July 27, 2021. The most recent World Update V: Nordics is available for users to enjoy as they can fly and land around Norway, Sweden, Finland, Denmark, and Iceland.

Xbox Game Pass users can pre-install and pre-order Microsoft’s flight simulator now. Similar to the P.C. version, simmers can experience incredibly detailed, visually appealing, and authentic flights worldwide. In addition, more and more people are purchasing Xbox Series consoles, so brand new gamers may be joining the flight sim community.

Light planes and wide-body jets are available for users to experiment with — also, they can test their skills in real-life situations where varying weather conditions, wind, temperature, and humidity are flight factors. It’s as real as flying can get, considering it’s all on a gaming console.

Simmers will have flight access to loads of destinations, including but not limited to:

  37,000 airports2 million cities1.5 billion buildings

It’s no secret that the global gaming industry is growing, and Microsoft is finding innovative ways to be at the front of the tech race. Microsoft continues to work with third-party developers to bring out the best of their flight simulator. Partnering with other organizations opens up the opportunity to make it as intuitive and engaging as possible, putting them ahead of the competition.

In their most recent major update, Microsoft allows simmers to tour northern European countries, test their flight skills, and take in the glorious views. These countries are known for their beautiful landscapes and unique architecture, making this experience more stimulating.

Flying over fjords, peaks of massive mountains, and castles are only some of the features of this new update. In addition, users can land at 100 hand-crafted airports, which were upgraded, and 77 other points of interest.

The update has five bush trips and landing challenges to further enhance the user experience. In addition, its details are super realistic and make the user feel as if they’re actually flying over these remarkable landmarks.

Asobo, Microsoft’s partner, focuses its efforts on integrating virtual reality (V.R.) into the simulator. It’ll definitely be something to look out for in this next update. It’ll be as close as some will get to actually flying a plane over these locations!

An extra feature set to be released on November 19, 2021, is Microsoft’s collaboration with Paramount Pictures. To celebrate the launch of the new movie, “Top Gun: Maverick,” an expansion pack to the flight simulator will be made available.

The Maverick expansion offers users the experience of flying for the U.S. Navy, like in the famous “Top Gun” movies. The details have yet to be revealed, but we do know that more expansion packs are expected to be released after the initial launch.

Microsoft’s plans to incorporate new technology to upgrade their current flight simulator are certainly noteworthy. It’ll be interesting to see the reviews flood in once their simulator is available on the Xbox Series X|S.
